Please note - if you are concerned about the weather and being the only one to turn up at a venue, please phone a co-ordinator or anyone else on the list of members to check if anyone else is going.
We meet 10 a.m. to 12 noon unless otherwise stated. You can make a full day of it if you wish. There is usually somewhere nearby for lunch.
Feb. 17th Florence’s House. 43 Longford Rd. See an art DVD, do some sketching. No. 23 bus to Bradway, alight at terminus (post box) and walk along to Longford Rd to no. 43. By car come along Bradway Road, fork right down Prospect Road, turn left onto Wollaton Rd. by the post box, then left again after the shops into Longford Rd.
March 16th Full Day Out at Hepworth gallery, Wakefield. The big Hepworth sculpture exhibition will still be on. By train from Sheffield, meet on platform 4A for the 10:06 to Wakefield Kirkgate. Arr. 10:49. Use your bus pass! Short walk or free bus to the Hepworth. Return trains at 2:55; 3:23; 3:55; 4:23; 4:55. If you drive, we’ll meet in the gallery entrance around 11am. There’s a cafe and we can borrow folding stools. Pen/pencil sketching only – NO PAINTS.
April 13 Castleton. Meet on Village green. There is generally parking space there.
April 27 Graves Park, Animal Farm. Meet in main car park near corner of Hemsworth Rd and Bunting Nook. From Meadowhead roundabout take Ring Road (Bochum Parkway) east. 2nd roundabout, go left into Norton Ave. Straight across at next roundabout into Hemsworth Rd. Graves Park on the left in about half a mile.
May 11 Graves Park, Bluebell woods. Meet main car park, as above. More animals if the bluebells aren’t out!
May 25 Bishops House. Norton Lees Lane. On street parking. We’ve booked it from 10-2:30. Inside and/or out. We can eat inside, use the loos, etc. but bring flask and sandwich. It will cost £4 each, or £1 for each hour you plan to stay.
June 8 Botanical Gardens. Meet at the Rose Garden. We can park inside the gates at the Thompson Road entrance.
June 22 Fanshawe Gate Hall. At Owler Bar, turn left down the B6054 to Holmesfield. Take the second left (Fanshawe Gate Lane). The house is some way down the lane on the left hand side. Park in the stack yard just past the main gates. £1 will be collected from each towards the charity supported by the national Gardens Scheme. Mrs Ramsden will supply coffee and biscuits (£1).
July 6 Great Longstone. Meet on the village green.
July 20 Whirlowbrook Park. Meet in front of the house. There is another carpark behind the house if you don’t fancy a walk up the hill!
